The question most ask of me is “what does a County Commissioner do “? I will try to briefly answer this question.

The board of County Commissioners is the Chief Administrative body of the county. Many citizens perceive a County Commissioner as mainly being responsible for maintaining and constructing the county roads and bridges. While these are important duties required by the office, a County Commissioner, as a member of the board, is also responsible for setting and administering policies for the county. Commissioners buy and sell public land and properties, implement economic development, approve or reject all bids on major purchases, develop personnel policies, authorize and maintain an inventory  of all county properties and the list goes on.

As you can see the responsibilities varies a great deal and encompasses many different disciplines. I do want to take this opportunity to inform you of the progress my staff and I have made since coming into office as the Cleveland County Commissioner of District #3 January 2007.

I had promised to make District # 3 more efficient by stretching your tax dollars and to expedite much needed projects.  I am pleased to inform you that we have already made significant strides in achieving these goals in the short time I have been in office.

On the menu to the right are a list of projects we have finished and our currently working on.  These are just a few examples of how my staff and I are doing everything in our power to better your conditions in our County.  I am keenly aware of the impact that road and bridge improvements have in your daily lives as do the taxes you pay in order to make these projects a reality.  I appreciate the opportunity you have given me to serve you and look forward to further serving you in the future.
