District # 3, in association with Oklahoma Court Services, has recently instituted a programs using individuals serving Community Sentencing time to clean and maintain neglected or abandon rural cemeteries located in Cleveland County. This program is up and running. This project has received over whelming positive response from our citizens. District # 3, in association with the Cleveland County Sheriff and District Attorney offices, is initiating a new Inmate Work Release Program. This program will allow qualified non-violent offends to participate in work programs to help clear county roadways. This volunteer program will allow the inmate to earn an earlier release by performing various work for the county. Kick off for this project is scheduled for early fall 2008. During the February 1, 2008 Ice Strom, District #3 working around the clock spreading over 35,000 tons of sand/salt on county and city roads. Priority was placed on emergency services, prisons, schools roads, fire and police stations. District #3 received a Certificate of Appreciation from the Oklahoma National Guard for keeping their heliport runways open enabling the Chinooks helicopters to deliver emergency supplies. |
