Roads & Bridges

Completed Projects: 2007

After several years of being closed the Boone Creek Bridge, located just east of Thunder Valley Raceway, has been replaced at a cost of $468,747.98. The construction cost was funded through a combination of county and state/federal funds.  Originally, only 50% of the construction expenses were to come from  state/federal aid.  However, I was able to obtain additional funds increasing their portion to 80% of these expenses, saving our County thousands of dollars.

96th Avenue has been resurfaced with a 4 inches lift of asphalt. The project started at State Highway 39 East of Lexington and extends north four miles to Bryant Road.

Even after the four declared disasters of 2007 (2 Flooding and 2 Winter Storm), we were still able to complete 17 miles of Chip and Seal road resurfacing. Numerous repairs have been made to bridges, culverts, bar ditches, and road ways that were damaged by the floods and ice.

Numerous other projects were completed in 2007, you will find them listed in the following related areas.

2008 Road Projects:

District # 3 is still playing catch up from last years Floods and Ice storms.

Road projects scheduled for 2008 include 37 miles of Chip and Seal Road resurfacing. Roads that are being resurfaced include portions of Maguire, Cemetery, Slaughtersville, Banner, 180th Ave, 72nd Ave and 60th Ave.

Pot hole repairs, mowing right-a-ways and the cleaning of tin horns and culverts are being done continually.

Etowah Road Project:

Additionally, six miles of Etowah Road have been scheduled to be reconstructed between 48th Ave. and 120th Ave. I have been and will continue working closely with the City of Noble, City of Norman, the Town of Slaughterville and the Oklahoma Department of Transportation on this county project to improve this roadway. This project is estimated to cost approximately Six Million dollars, ALL of which will be paid by the State.  The State has tentatively agreed to budget the money to start construction around 2010 or 2011.
